Random Moments of Hilarity

Will post more later about our trip to the pumpkin patch on Saturday, but in the meantime, here are a few funny moments from the last few days.

  • On Saturday evening, I was flipping channels and found some figure skating. Amanda LOVED it. She could hardly get enough. Each time a new skater would come on, she'd turn to me and say "Mommy, s/he's doing great!". Don't know where she picked up that little phrase but it was adorable.
  • This was an amazing fall morning - cold and frosty with an amazing blue sky. Even though I was running late I figured it was worth a delay to walk with her to daycare instead of taking the car. She was having a fabulous time discovering how frost crunches under your feet and picking up enormous frosty maple leaves. But the best part was when she started running and waving her arms, shouting "I'm catching the wind!".
Does life get any better than that?

Full of Beans

Amanda has really been quite the little goofball recently, and we love it! The better her vocabulary gets, the less frequently the tantrums occur and the more pleasant she is in general. It helps that we're usually letting her sleep in these days (I wait for her to get up then goes into work a bit later) and she wakes up very pleasant and cheerful. In the evenings she gets really silly. She's started doing this duckwalk thing...it's hard to describe but she kind of struts and sticks her chin out. It's pretty hilarious to watch. She also gets in moods where she talks a mile a minute and makes up little songs (which is funny because we do it all the time too). She'll sing a little song something like "time to put on my socks...on my feet, not my hands...that would be silly...no, not the hands! No, no, no!". OK, I made that up, but she was singing a song sort of like that this morning.

Favourite new phrases these days? "Watch me" and "watch this", and "I'll figure it out".

28 Months (2 Years, 4 Months)

Amanda's new birthday picture is up...28 months! I never know what to say now when people ask how old she is. She's not really "two and a half" yet, but she's quite a bit more than "two". The past few times I've said "two and a third", but that gets me some funny "crazy mom alert" looks. At least I don't count her age in weeks!! :)

Fruity

Amanda loves fruit. Yes, most toddlers love fruit, but Amanda REALLY loves fruit.

I love these recent pictures of her with one of her favourites, cantaloupe. The colours really fit the season.

Lining Them Up...

Again!?!

Wow, once again it's been over a month since we updated this site! Obviously we're not very good at this. :) We've been very busy over the past several weeks as we've been getting ready for Mike & Cristina's wedding, which took place on Saturday. It was beautiful! Everything went according to plan (at least from our perspective!) and it was an incredible day - the weather could not have been more beautiful.

Of course Amanda was a perfect angel - she walked down the aisle exactly as instructed and sat quietly through the entire service (despite the fact she was sitting with the wedding party, with no parents or grandparents close by). She had a fabulous time at the reception, dancing literally from beginning to end. We couldn't even get her to sit down and take a rest, other than quick refuel stops for fruit and water. She didn't fall asleep until after 11:30 pm! Needless to say, Sunday was a sleep-in day and she is only now starting to get back on schedule.

All our pics from the wedding are on one Flickr set, but here are a few cute ones:
